As early as 1838 when the Jesuit missionary Peter De Smet celebrated Mass in what is now Bellevue, to later in 1856 when Father Edmonds celebrated Mass at St. Mary in downtown Omaha—the first established Catholic Church in the Nebraska territory—our parishes all share a common history.
